Courtrooms

We stick to simple codes
codes legible, in human language
the language beyond YES and NOs
beyond black and white
but that’s not what goes
when we sit, clad in robes
on wooden chairs and iron thrones
in judgment, in review.
Fates are decided
by crows, dressed
in white clothes
in small court rooms
I’m one of the crows
a participant of
these machinations
that whisper
into the ear of God
and draw blood
whether we like it
or not.
