Vampyr

I saw a 28 year old brute

in a broken mirror once

those shards, like a jigsaw puzzle

made him look older than that antique victorian lamp

on my mother’s night stand

He seemed like a vampire

his teeth sharp, and his eyes red

death followed him around

tugging at his pants

feeding on living vitality

on tiny humans, with chambered hearts

who drove a stake through his

and pierced all the love out of him

They wanted to kill him

and they did

He went insane that winter

stood locked in his tower, and cried for redemption

dead in body, mind and soul,

like a jigsaw puzzle piece, he fit the world of the living.
